I make this smoothie EVERY week. Sometimes multiple times per week!!! 👅
It’s refreshing and energizing from the ginger and lemon. Packed full of goodness and very low in sugar! Have you had a GREEN smoothie lately?…
HOLISTIC, HEALTHY & COLORFUL EATS. YOGA EVERYDAY – Portland, OR
My mornings are SO MUCH BETTER now that I’m NOT regularly drinking coffee. I absolutely love coffee but it gives me the jitters, which can often make me feel ill or nauseous, especially if I haven’t eaten. Matcha is a superfood, natural source of energy and focus, and it also helps support a healthy metabolism. What’s not to like?
So much goodness in this Matcha recipe too! This summer I attended an Adaptogenic Elixir’s class, hosted by Alison Wu, where I learned to make this magical drink! Alison shared 3 unique recipes that she had created; Matcha Potion, Raw Cacao Elixir & Rose-Pistachio Potion. This recipe is super similar to Alison’s Matcha Potion and I encourage you, just like she did to the class, to customized your matcha to your bodies needs by using whatever adaptogens are right for you.
If your wondering “what’s an adaptogen?” – (in herbal medicine) its a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes. Each of the adaptogens in this drink have unique healing properties, here are a few below:
COLLAGEN PEPTIDES – cohesion, elasticity and regeneration of skin, hair, tendon, cartilage, bones and joints
HE SHOU WU – longevity, liver and kidney detox, blood cleaning
MACA – increased sex dive, balances estrogen in women
REISHI – anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, calming with mental clarity
RHODIOLA – antioxidant, anti-aging, good immune system booster
TOCOS – connective tissue and skin
I hope you enjoy the matcha just as much as I do!
Adaptogens (swap below with other adaptogens like ashwagandha, reishi, chaga - this recipe is very flexible)
